wineboard is an app for tracking and sharing wines. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
What we collect
When you use wineboard, we collect:
- Account information — your email address, and your name and profile photo if you sign in with Google or Apple.
- Wine records — everything you add to the app: wine names, producers, vintages, regions, grape varieties, tasting notes, and label photos.
- Usage data — how many label scans you have performed, to enforce free-tier scan limits.
- Shared board snapshots — when you create a share link, we store a snapshot of the selected wines and any note you add for the recipient.
How we use your data
- To provide and sync your wine collection across sessions.
- To process label photos through Google Gemini, an AI service, which analyses the image and returns wine metadata. Label photos are sent to Google's API for this purpose.
- To generate public share pages when you create a share link.
- To enforce scan limits for free accounts.
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.
Third-party services
- Supabase — stores your account, wine records, and shared snapshots. Data is hosted on AWS infrastructure.
- Google OAuth / Apple Sign-In — used for authentication. We only receive the email and name you authorise.
- Google Gemini API — processes label photos to extract wine information. Google's data handling is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat — manages in-app subscriptions. Payment details are handled by Apple and never seen by us.
- GrapeMinds — a wine database used for search suggestions. Queries are sent to their API when you search for a wine.
Data retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You can export your wine records at any time from Account → Export data. You can request full deletion of your account and all associated data from Account → Delete account.
Shared links
When you create a share link, a snapshot of the selected wines is stored and made publicly accessible via that link. Shared notes (tasting notes) are only included if you explicitly enable them. You can revoke any link at any time from the Share screen.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, use the in-app tools or contact us at support@getwineboard.com.
Children
wineboard is not directed at children under 17. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
